If you are seeking a Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) to the United States based on working for KBR or other contractors in Afghanistan between October 2001 and the present, please see the important message below.
The United States Department of Defense (DoD) has informed KBR that it has a new simpler process for SIV applicants. The new process has two parts:
- You need a National Visa Center SIV case number from the United States Department of State National Visa Center. A National Visa Center SIV case number looks like this: NVCSIV###########. If you do not have a case number, you should start an SIV application as soon as possible, even if you do not have all of the documents. You can start the application by sending an email to: AfghanSIVapplication@state.gov.
- KBR is providing information about its former Afghan national employees directly to the DoD. The DoD will create one letter in place of the SIV Employment Verification letter and the SIV Recommendation letter that were required under the original process.
This new process replaces the original process — you no longer need to submit documents in order to apply for a National Visa Center SIV case number, although you should fill out and submit as much information as you can (name, passport, Tazkira, company you worked for). You should apply as soon as possible so that the DoD can begin working on your case by matching your information with the information that KBR is providing.
After you have a National Visa Center SIV case number, you may check the status of your SIV case by sending an email to the U.S. Department of State at: HAfghaninquiries@state.gov.
If you have any questions, please send an email to us at: SIV@kbr.com. If you worked with KBR’s United Kingdom (UK) business on contracts with the UK Ministry of Defense or NATO forces, please send an email to our UK team at: FLONKBR-afghanWithdrawals@kbr.com.
