Program Director – Training, Systems and Training Solutions

Government Solutions Asia-Pacific
Sydney, Australia

Militaries around the world rely on KBR experts to deliver solutions that help accomplish their most critical missions, often including crucial training solutions.

As program director of Training, Systems and Training Solutions, Rebecca Sanders oversees a range of projects that prepare servicemembers for success using tailored virtual solutions that are both immersive and safe. These solutions include virtual and augmented reality tools, ship’s mass evacuation trainings, eLearning, and simulation training aids.

“The variety of projects I’m able to work across and the intersection with so many people from so many different fields is immensely gratifying,” Rebecca said. “Plus, I know that the work that I’m doing is making a difference and keeping people safe.”

A particular highlight of her work was the development and delivery of real-time, 3D virtual training courseware to train crews to operate and maintain the Royal Australian Navy’s Landing Helicopter Dock ships, the largest vessels ever constructed for the Australian Defence Force.

When asked what Rebecca would say to someone considering a job at KBR, she related her own experience.

“KBR is a supportive, positive and flexible organization that values its people,” she said. “I’ve had opportunities to grow and further my career, while also being able to put my family first. In my experience, that’s a rare combination.”

Outside of work, Rebecca likes to spend time with family or work on their hobby farm. Even then, Zero Harm is front of mind.

“While I’m working, I often have a moment where I pause and think about how I might explain accidents to my manager or HSE Director and rethink how to get tasks done,” she said. “And from a sustainability perspective, Zero Harm influences the products and packaging we choose, to the gifts I buy, to how we can reuse and recycle materials.”
