KBR once again participated in the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC), the world's largest conference covering upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas. This was KBR's third year to attend the conference which has been held annually since 1984. This year, ADIPEC welcomed 10,000 industry delegates, featured over 2,200 exhibiters, and held over 200 conference sessions. KBR's Keith Tallent, Global Service Manager, operated and managed KBR's Data for Life Model exhibit. The model is an industry leading project lifecycle experience which allows a project's relevant documents to be stored in one place, digitized, searchable and linked. The data can be used during design, to improve operations and maintenance, and during future revamps and repairs. The possibilities with this technology are endless, including a scenario where the data is contained in a virtual reality simulation, allowing a project manager to review, collaborate, or use for training purposes. The Data for Life Model can also be accessed through smart hats or goggles to allow operators to assess the project asset while reviewing repair information, data sheets, isometrics, or operating information.

In the past, someone would have a binder or a file folder with hundreds of drawings, data sheets, and other relevant project documents and they would have to locate the correct binder or box, then find the pages of interest for the problem at hand, and if the asset had a digital model, go into that and find the 3D location, described Tallent. Tags on the 2D document automatically navigate you to the space in 3D and finding a 3D element brings all the related documents," Tallent said, describing KBR's Data for Life Model. "A quick and complete understanding of the situation also makes repair or remedy much safer because it can reduce the likelihood that critical data is missed and by linking it to the model, an operator can accurately visualize and measure," he continued.

KBR's booth at ADIPEC gave clients and potential customers the opportunity to play with and see the full potential of the software. Attendees could see how this current capability could be expanded and added to a lifecycle, providing substantial benefits and savings. KBR senior leaders with The Honorable Barbara A.
