Johan Sverdrup Final Major Accommodation Modules Installed
After the recent successful load out of the Living Quarters (LQ) topside, the KBR Kvaerner Joint Venture (K2JV) saw another significant milestone in January 2018 for the Statoil, Johan Sverdrup LQ Topside EPC Project: the safe arrival, lift and installation of the four main accommodation modules.
The modules, with a combined weight of approximately 2,523 tons, were fabricated and delivered by K2JV's sub-contractor Leirvik at their yards in Aslaksvik, Norway and at Emtunga in Gothenburg, Sweden. Leirvik is also manufacturing the platform's helideck, helihanger & HVAC modules which will be delivered and installed by end April 2018. K2JV is proud to see the LQ topside building blocks join together and to have achieved all delivery milestones – over 100 to date.
"Safety remains a major focus, particularly as we are working at height and will soon put energy into the platform systems," said KBR's Project Director, Andrew Delugar.
The project has now moved into the mechanical completion phase of work and the start of commissioning activities are planned for March 2018. The K2JV site includes sixteen KBR engineering and support personnel located at the Kvaerner Stord Yard and over one hundred individuals on staff based in the Leatherhead office.
The Topsides sailaway remains on target for February 2019.
