KBRwyle Flight Tester Named 2016 Navy Contractor Tester of the Year

Publish date

HOUSTON Ð (March 22, 2017) Ð KBR, Inc. (NYSE: KBR) announced today that the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) has named KBRwyle employee Bryan Smith the 2016 Navy Contractor Tester of the Year at the 32nd Annual National Test and Evaluation Conference in San Diego, California on March 8. KBRwyle is part of KBR, Inc.'s Government Services business.

Smith received the award for his work within the maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft flight test community; his expertise and knowledge enabled the successful testing of new capabilities and weapons for the U.S. military. Smith is the fifth KBRwyle employee to win a Tester of the Year award since 2004.

NDIA annually recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions in the field of test and evaluation with the Tester of the Year awards in three different categories: military, civilian, and contractor. Awardees are selected by the Office of the Secretary of Defense or one of the U.S. military's test and evaluation departments.

"Our KBRwyle team is proud of Bryan and his accomplishments within the flight test community," said Roger Wiederkehr, President, KBRwyle. "This award is indicative of the superior performance and dedication displayed by all of our KBRwyle flight testers."

Smith serves as a P-8A Poseidon weapons integration lead, tactical coordinator, and project officer for Air Test and Evaluation Squadron Two Zero (VX-20). Drawing upon his extensive S-3 Viking, F/A-18 Hornet, and P-8A experience, he has assisted in the development of fleet tactics, techniques and procedures.

"Mr. Smith has distinguished himself as an outstanding and innovative leader who has made many contributions that will have long-lasting positive impacts on the P-8A Integrated Test Team, the Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Aircraft community, and the U.S. Navy," said Joe Manas, Chair, NDIA Test and Evaluation Division. "The breadth and quality have tremendously benefited this community and we are honored to recognize Mr. Smith for his contributions."

A former U.S. Navy naval flight officer, weapon system officer and U.S. Naval Test Pilot School instructor, Smith belongs to KBRwyle's flight test team, which is one of the world's largest independent flight test organizations. KBRwyle's flight operations team has more than 50 years of flight test support experience gained through partnership with the U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, NASA and other government and commercial customers.
